Many products in Shopify are missing SKU or barcode data. Without these values, your labels may show blank fields. The SKU Generator helps you create values for products that don't have them.
Go to from the left sidebar.
Add products to your printing queue.
If some products are missing SKU or barcode values, click the SKU generator option.
Choose an action:
Creates a unique 13-digit sequential number for each variant
Creates a unique 8-digit sequential number for each variant
Copies existing barcode values to the SKU field
Copies existing SKU values to the barcode field
- The generator does existing values. Variants that already have a value will be skipped.
- Generated values are — they're not just for the label.
- All plans (Free, Starter, Growth) include the SKU generator.
- The sync options are useful when you have data in one field but not the other. For example, if all your products have barcodes but no SKUs, use "Sync barcode → SKU".
- To change a value that was already set, update it manually in Shopify admin.
